The Candy Police of The Gingerb-red Carpet

Nothing makes me prouder than the bragging rights LSPR gained last year as the winner of Whole Foods Fairfax's Dancing Deer Gingerbread House Decorating Contest.  Last year's entry, which can be seen here in all of its saccharine glory, couldn't have been realized without the artistic efforts of The Workshop's Spencer Alcorn and Julie Carlson, both of whom have since moved on to other ventures.  Prepared for battle despite the inexperience of a new team, we set out last night at our office holiday party to strive for gingerbread decorating perfection that might have the chance to earn us a repeat victory.

May we present...The Candy Police of The Gingerb-Red Carpet.

Our concept featured our favorite red carpet moments of the year including Carrie Underwood in Gomez-Gracia, Nikki Reed in Contrarian, Emma Stone in Gucci, K. Stew in Zuhair Murad and many others as well as a guest appearance by E! Network's sartorial sheriffs Joan Rivers, Giuliana Rancic, George Kotsiopolous and Kelly Osbourne.

Some alternative views:

Thank you to Michelle Balady and her boyfriend Alex for their determination in creating the perfect circular driveway out of mini M&Ms and to Francesca Vannucci for her dexterity with the icing.

May the best cookie and candy creation win!

Style Star for December: Carly Rae Jepsen

After the release of her hit single “Call Me Maybe,” Carly Rae Jepsen has taken the music world by storm. With numerous appearances, Carly has pleasantly surprised us with her unique take on fashion. Whether she’s stepping out in girly sequins or a grungy sweater, we never know what to expect from this stylish singer next, making her the perfect choice for this month’s Style Star.

At the 2012 American Music Awards
Carly looks flawless at the 2012 American Music Awards in a beautiful mermaid shape gown by Gomez-Gracia. Her bangs add the cuteness while working the sexy halter gown. She looks like a lovely doll.

Performing on France's "Vivement Dimanche"
I love the look Carly wore for her performance on France’s “Vivement Dimanche.”  With her striped tee, tweed moto jacket, booties and top knot, she captured that elegant French “je ne sais quoi” to perfection.  I recently added a tweed moto jacket to my own wardrobe and can’t wait to give it a try with a striped tee like Carly did here.

Arriving at NRJ Radio in Paris
Carly Rae at NRJ Radio in Paris wearing a red peplum tank and striped mini skirt. Peplum flatters every woman's figure creating a sexy hourglass shape all year long. The pop sensation kept the ensemble simple with black platform pumps and gold jewelry.

Arriving at Comedy Central’s Night Of Too Many Stars: America Comes Together For Autism
This October, Carly rocked Topshop’s take on the LBD.  The low cut of the Embossed Skater Dress combined with the ALISHA Scallop Edge Boots make her look daring and edgy, but the mesh insert ensures the look never crosses the line into risqué territory.
- Rebecca Suzuki, LSPR Intern

Los Angeles Premiere of "Katy Perry: Part of Me"
Carly brightens up the red carpet in this cobalt blue dress and bright yellow heels. Her pink floral bag and bold ring add a girly touch, while her straight hair and simple make up keep the look polished.

So Many Things To Be Thankful For...

Inspired by many our friends posting words of thanks on their Facebook and Twitter pages, the team here at LSPR wanted to offer our thanks to the people and things that keep us happy on a daily basis.

Lauren is thankful for...the return of sweater weather
I love to cozy up in sweaters when it’s cold outside.  I have been anxiously awaiting the opportunity to wear my favorite oversized cardigan with faux-fur collar and just added this great rubgy-style striped sweater from LOFT to the rotation.  Give me a cozy sweater and a hot chocolate on a chilly LA night and I’m a happy girl.

Michelle is thankful for...Channing Tatum
Although my heart is taken, my eyes can’t seem stay off the buff arms and chiseled stomach of Channing Tatum- this year I am thankful for the sexiest man alive. His perfectly engineered body and deep eyes are only made sexier by his humble personality and faithful devotion to his loving wife. This Hollywood heartthrob has every girl asking Santa to put him under the tree this year.

Lisa is thankful for... glitter gel manicures
I am thankful to the glitter gel manicures for keeping my nails shiny and sparkling all month long. Not having to worry about my nails getting chipped or pealing is the best thing that a clumsy girl like me could ever wish for.

Kelly is thankful for...wedges
I am thankful for comfortable wedges. The best accessory when you want to dress up but need to be on your feet for hours. They are stylish and give you the polished look of heels without the pain, perfect for helping you stylishly go the distance during the busy holiday party season.

Rebecca is thankful for...the Olympics in London
This year I’m thankful that the Olympics were held in my favorite city, London.  Not only did it showcase the strength and endurance of the greatest athletes in the world, but it also gave occasion for many Kate Middleton photo ops.  As one of my favorite style icons, the Duchess did not disappoint this summer.  Per usual, she looked flawless whether her look was casual for a sporting event or dressed up for a royal affair.

LSPR Staff Style Tips: November

Today's 90 degree weather is all too reminiscent of summer, making it difficult to believe fall is upon us. While we stare longingly at the scarves, sweaters and peacoats in our closets, here's a list of which pieces might actually be getting some use this month, despite the lack of cool weather here on the west coast.

Flights of Fancy — Clea DuVall in Kevan Hall and Berenice Marlowe in Alexander McQueen
There’s something about a simple silhouette accented by wisps of feathers that sets my heart aflutter.  Argo’s Clea DuVall worked the look at the Hollywood Film Awards in a rose chiffon Kevan Hall gown with feather sleeves, showcasing how the trend can work for black tie occasions.  But it is Bond girl Berenice Marlohe’s Alexander McQueen top that I’m totally crazy for.  I love how she paired the top with simple white trousers and can’t wait to emulate the look for an upcoming holiday function.
-- Lauren Stillman

New Kicks on the Block -- Kate Bosworth in Isabel Marant
Wedge sneakers have just fulfilled the dreams of petite women everywhere discretely granting a few precious inches of height. They can be paired with ripped jeans or juxtaposed with flirty dresses and skirts. Kate Bosworth effortlessly captured the trend with a girly pleated maxi and ballerina bun.
-- Michelle Balady, LSPR Showroom Manager

Blast from the Past -- Ann Hathaway and Kim Kardashian
The ‘90’s are back in a major way, bringing with them the reincarnation of some of our favorite fashion trends such as Harem pants.  There is zero risk of sausage leg syndrome this season. These pants not only make you look chic and edgy but with wedges or heels they make your legs look mile-long as well. Pair it with a blazer, cardigan, sheer blouse, or a half leather jacket to make your own stylish outfit!
-- Lisa Lee, LSPR Intern

A Menswear Affair -- Katie Holmes in Stella McCartney
Tuxedo style blazers are a must have for fall. They can easily add class to an outfit and work in a variety of colors. Katie Holmes keeps it simple with a crisp white style, but I also love the look in black, which works great over a flowy dress or with jeans and heels.  Dress it up with costume jewelry or down with a great pair of boots, the tuxedo style blazer is perfect for any occasion.
-- Kelly Kinsella, LSPR Intern

Skull & Bone – Vanessa Hudgens in Wildfire CoutureThe skull and bone motif has long been a staple in men’s wear but has more recently been trending on young starlets like Vanessa Hudgens, who wore this Wildfox Couture White Label Love Skull Sweater to an event in NYC last month.  The skeletal theme can be both girly and edgy, a perfect fit for Hudgens who has rocked the look before.  The trend has even hit the Paris runway at the Peachoo Krejberg fashion show where the addition of ribcage-shaped harnesses complimented many of their new pieces.

Style Star for October: Krysten Ritter

Krysten Ritter has transitioned from co-star to leading lady and her jet-black locks and flirty style have us obsessed. From leather to lace, Krysten knows how to rock every look. Its no wonder this quirky actress has caught our eye as this month's style star.

Krysten Ritter in Christian Dior at the Women in Film Pre-Emmy Party
I love a ballerina-inspired frock.  Krysten worked the look at a pre-Emmy party in a ravishing red dress.  I love the contrast of the bright color against her jet black hair.
-- Lauren Stillman

At the SiriusXm Studios in Collette Dinningan
Krysten Ritter knows the perfect LBD when she sees one. The fusion of lace and chiffon on this Collette Dinningan dress created an interesting mixture of lines and patterns that took the classic LBD to whole new level. The comedic actresses played down the flirty dress with a messy bun and simple Jimmy Choo stilettos at the SiriusXM Studio visit on October 23, 2012.
-- Michelle Balady, LSPR Showroom

Out in Times Square, New York City
Krysten Ritter gives new meaning to the little black dress.  The studded shoulders gives the dress an edgy look while the full skirt and long sleeves keep it conservative. Krysten tops the look off with minimal jewelry and a stunning pair of black-heeled booties – a perfect combination.
-- Kelly Kinsella, LSPR Intern

Walking in to Good Morning America in Robert Rodriguez
It’s as if Krysten Ritter has been following our LSPR blog and knew how much I would love her wine colored Robert Rodriguez coat that she wore to the taping of Good Morning America.  With the onset of winter weather, a girl has to be practical and keep warm, but Ritter proves that you can be sensible and stylish at the same time. Rather than blending in with the commonplace black coat, her pop of color is a beautiful contrast to her jet-black hair. And forget about a shapeless bulky coat – here’s a silhouette with the classic feminine flair at the bottom and a belt that shows off her figure. What more could you ask for?
-- Rebecca Suzuki, LSPR Intern

At the "Late Show with David Letterman" in Reem Acra
Krysten Ritter looked gorgeous at the "Late Show with David Letterman" in an emerald- green dress, perfect for winter. The floral appliqué and knotted detail at the waist added an elegant touch to the actresses classic look. She added a pop of sex appeal with leopard print Jimmy Choo's, while the red lips and oversized cocktail ring completed the stunning look!

LSPR Staff Style Tips: October

Style Tip

The fashionistas at LSPR are ready to tuck away the summer clothes and dig up the fall pieces from the cobwebs in the closet. Were ready for the boots, the scarves and cable knit sweaters. Find out what other celebrity inspired trends we'll be caught wearing this winter below.

Bling It On – Brittany Snow in Giuliana Rancic for LOFT
This blinged-out statement necklace, designed by breast cancer survivor Giuliana Rancic exclusively for LOFT, is the ultimate fashion do!  Not only do 25% of the proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (in stores and LOFT.com now!!!), but it instantly ups the glamour quotient on any outfit.  My favorite way to rock it is with an oversized casual tee and sexy heels.
 -- Lauren Stillman

Cross The Knucke Line  – Rihanna
This recycled 80's trend has made it's way back to the 21st century on today's hottest pop star. Rihanna has always been an accessory queen and I adore the cluster of rings in this picture. Above the knuckle rings can serve as a hint of bling or a compliment to statement pieces as shown on Rihanna. This versatile trend is one style 80's fashion got right.
-- Michelle Balady, LSPR Showroom Manager

Go oversized this month – Whitney Port
The oversize clutch is the perfect fall accessory to complete any look.  This versatile bag can easily transition from day to night and fits all your necessities without being too bulky.  Try the look in neon to add an instant pop of color to any outfit or in beige for a more low-key accessory for work. Whitney Port sports a metallic version to add instant style to her neutral outfit.
-- Kelly Kinsella, LSPR Intern

Ankle Boots – Katharine McPhee
I’m loving ankle boots for Fall 2012, especially in an of-the-moment color like oxblood as worn here by Katharine McPhee.  They are great at making the outfit look casual yet chic and can be worn not only with cardigans, skirts, boyfriend jeans and leggings, but also with long sleeve dresses and trench coats.
-- Lisa Lee, LSPR Intern

Colors from the Vineyard- Blake Lively
While the temperature in Los Angeles may be playing tricks on me, several days of overcast skies are convincing me that it might actually be October! I've already started stockpiling my closet with my favorite trend of the season - the warm hues of the vineyard! Whether it be burgundy or bordeaux these colors work from blouse to denim, nail polish to shoes and are especially glamorous as your go-to lip color for fall. Blake Lively embraced the trend at the Gucci Premiere Fragrance Launch in the beginning of September.

Style Star for September: Nikki Reed

Nikki Reed has co-starred with the likes of Kristen Stewart and Ashley Greene, but the young starlet is stepping out of the style shadows of her Twilight cast mates and into a sartorial spotlight all her own.  With the launch of her new Mattlin Era jewelry collection and undeniable style to admire, Nikki's fashion sense has hit our radar as this month's style star.

At the Carmen Steffens West Coast Store Opening in McQ
Nikki Reed attended the Carmen Steffens West Coast Flagship store opening at the Hollywood & Highland center in a teal McQ printed dress. She created the perfect balance between soft and edgy with her wavy hair and black studded booties. The yellow Rebecca Minkoff clutch added an unexpected splash of color creating the ensemble of the night.
- Michelle Balady, LSPR Showroom Manager

At the 2012 MTV Movie Awards in Randi Rahm
Nikki Reed arrived at the MTV Movie Awards red carpet with an update on the iconic Hollywood Starlet look.  She kept it classic with her side swiped waves and golden color palette, but the cut of Randi Rahm’s frock kept the outfit young and flirty - notice the subtle but sexy peek-a-boo – perfect for the 24 year old.
 -- Rebecca Suzuki, LSPR Intern

At the Teen Choice Awards in Contrarian New York
While some (less fashionable) people may think the navy-black color combo is a no-no, it is an absolute favorite for me in my personal wardrobe.  I love the way Nikki has worked the look here with a navy corset and black gathered skirt by Contrarian, paired with glittery accessories.  I’m dying to add those Brian Atwood heels to my collection.
-- Lauren Stillman

At the WIRED Café at Comic-Con
Nikki Reed shows off her chic, refined style at this year’s Comic-Con in July.  She glows in a white and beige peplum playsuit that perfectly accentuates her long legs.  The studded white clutch, nude high-heel sandals and silver rings add the perfect details to make the outfit stand out.  Her long tousled hair, pink lips and natural smoky eyes keep the look simple while adding the perfect amount of styling.
- Kelly Kinsella, LSPR Intern

At the LOFT 'Live In Pink' Launch Party in Los Angeles
Nikki Reed went for a chic look at the LOFT 'Live In Pink' Launch Party with a hot pink dress from LOFT’s “Live in Pink” line and a black leather jacket.  I love how the flirty hot pink dress is paired with a black leather jacket to express both an edgy and soft look for Nikki.  The fact that 25% of the proceeds from the sales of the dress will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (on sale Monday October 1), makes the look even sweeter!

Style Star for July: Freida Pinto

Freida Pinto is always amazing on the big screen and has a standout sense of fashion to match. Whether it is taking risks on the red carpet or making the airport her runway, she always stands apart from the crowd.  Freida is never afraid to be bold and for this reason, we raise a glass to her as our Style Star for July.

At the Cannes Opening Dinner in Versace
Freida Pinto looked stunning at the Opening Dinner during the 75th Annual Cannes Film Festival on May 16, 2012. The Versace beaded gown left just enough to the imagination with sequins in all the right places and high slit. Her messy hair and pink lips add a playful touch to her sexy vixen look
-- Michelle Balady, LSPR Showroom Manager

At a FLAUNT Party in Contrarian New York
Freida Pinto took a twist on the classic style and made it fun and flirty in this Contrarian top and skirt at the Flaunt Magazine Denim Issue party. The color combo of the outfit screams bold yet sweet with the neutral black and white colors, and then, a pop of red. Not only do the colors do Pinto justice, but this eye-catching white satin bow “ties” the look together and frames her face and shoulders beautifully.
-  Molly Goldberg, LSPR Intern

At the Airport in a Leather Jacket

I would have given anything to show up at the airport this morning looking like Freida.  The most important reason: she looks like someone you should know.  Those boots: super fashionable yet still easy to navigate airport security while wearing something that has socks (no one wants their feet on those floors!).  The purse is to die for while still seeming like the perfect travel accessory and the casual nature of the top says I’m not trying to impress you.  The jacket keeps you warm on the plane and the sunglasses protect you from the sun: an important facet for long flights as an international jet-setter.  Instead, I woke up at 4:00 AM for a 6:00 AM flight – unpacked, not showered, wearing a ponytail and dare I admit…a sports bra.  So, some girls can dream, but Freida lives it.
 - Guest Blogger Lindsay Stillman, visiting LA from Austin, TX

At a Cannes Photo call in Salvatore Faragamo
We rarely see Freida showing much skin, so this crop top and skirt combo is a bit out-of-the-norm for her, but in true Freida fashion, she manages to keep the look demure and chic.  Unexpected, yet perfectly suited to photos against the cool blue of the water in the South of France.  Absolument parfait.
 - Lauren Stillman

At the Cannes Film Festival in Atelier Versace
This is a show-stopper. What I love about Freida’s look is she makes a statement but looks completely in her element. This neon dress is gorgeous, but the extremity in its detail calls for a simplicity that Freida has perfected. Her minimal accessories and nude pumps direct all the attention to the beautiful lace top & Swarovski crytallized skirt. But let’s not forget that flirtatious slit down her leg or arched detail on her hip (an interesting twist on the whole peplum trend). Poised and bold, you did it again, Freida!
-Kathryn Hays, LSPR Intern

At the NY Screening of Trishna in Rachel Roy

Freida Pinto looked absolutely angelic in a beaded Rachel Roy dress at a screening of her film ‘Trishna’. Paired with her simply elegant jewelry and timeless makeup, Freida is the picture of class and grace. But, she would not be our style star if she did not take a few risks, and that is where the shoes come in. By adding an element of edge, Freida has kicked her outfit up a notch and taken it from cute to stunning.
- Katie Schuster, LSPR Intern

At the Nice Airport
I love Freida’s chic airport outfit consisting of a military trench, dark skinny jeans and ankle boots. This laid back outfit makes her look put together without overdoing her look in such a casual setting. Her jacket is my favorite part with its simple structure yet cute detailing around the cuffs. Freida definitely arrived to Cannes in style.
