Style Star for September: Nikki Reed

Nikki Reed has co-starred with the likes of Kristen Stewart and Ashley Greene, but the young starlet is stepping out of the style shadows of her Twilight cast mates and into a sartorial spotlight all her own.  With the launch of her new Mattlin Era jewelry collection and undeniable style to admire, Nikki's fashion sense has hit our radar as this month's style star.

She created the perfect balance between soft and edgy with her wavy hair and black studded booties. The yellow Rebecca Minkoff clutch added an unexpected splash of color creating the ensemble of the night.

At the 2012 MTV Movie Awards in Randi Rahm
Nikki Reed arrived at the MTV Movie Awards red carpet with an update on the iconic Hollywood Starlet look.  She kept it classic with her side swiped waves and golden color palette, but the cut of Randi Rahm’s frock kept the outfit young and flirty - notice the subtle but sexy peek-a-boo – perfect for the 24 year old.

At the Teen Choice Awards in Contrarian New York

While some (less fashionable) people may think the navy-black color combo is a no-no, it is an absolute favorite for me in my personal wardrobe.  I love the way Nikki has worked the look here with a navy corset and black gathered skirt by Contrarian, paired with glittery accessories.  I’m dying to add those Brian Atwood heels to my collection.

At the WIRED Café at Comic-Con
Nikki Reed shows off her chic, refined style at this year’s Comic-Con in July.  She glows in a white and beige peplum playsuit that perfectly accentuates her long legs.  The studded white clutch, nude high-heel sandals and silver rings add the perfect details to make the outfit stand out.  Her long tousled hair, pink lips and natural smoky eyes keep the look simple while adding the perfect amount of styling.

At the LOFT 'Live In Pink' Launch Party in Los Angeles
Nikki Reed went for a chic look at the LOFT 'Live In Pink' Launch Party with a hot pink dress from LOFT’s “Live in Pink” line and a black leather jacket.  I love how the flirty hot pink dress is paired with a black leather jacket to express both an edgy and soft look for Nikki.  The fact that 25% of the proceeds from the sales of the dress will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (on sale Monday October 1), makes the look even sweeter!

Style Star for July: Freida Pinto

Freida Pinto is always amazing on the big screen and has a standout sense of fashion to match. Whether it is taking risks on the red carpet or making the airport her runway, she always stands apart from the crowd.  Freida is never afraid to be bold and for this reason, we raise a glass to her as our Style Star for July.  At the Cannes Opening Dinner in Versace Freida Pinto looked stunning at the Opening Dinner during the 75th Annual Cannes Film Festival on May 16, 2012. The Versace beaded gown left just enough to the imagination with sequins in all the right places and high slit. Her messy hair and pink lips add a playful touch to her sexy vixen look  -- Michelle Balady, LSPR Showroom Manager At a FLAUNT Party in Contrarian New York Freida Pinto took a twist on the classic style and made it fun and flirty in this Contrarian top and skirt at the Flaunt Magazine Denim Issue party. The color combo of the outfit screams bold yet sweet with the neutral black and white colors, and then, a pop of red. Not only do the colors do Pinto justice, but this eye-catching white satin bow “ties” the look together and frames her face and shoulders beautifully. -  Molly Goldberg, LSPR Intern At the Airport in a Leather Jacket I would have given anything to show up at the airport this morning looking like Freida.  The most important reason: she looks like someone you should know.  Those boots: super fashionable yet still easy to navigate airport security while wearing something that has socks (no one wants their feet on those floors!).  The purse is to die for while still seeming like the perfect travel accessory and the casual nature of the top says I’m not trying to impress you.  The jacket keeps you warm on the plane and the sunglasses protect you from the sun: an important facet for long flights as an international jet-setter.  Instead, I woke up at 4:00 AM for a 6:00 AM flight – unpacked, not showered, wearing a ponytail and dare I admit…a sports bra.  So, some girls can dream, but Freida lives it.   - Guest Blogger Lindsay Stillman, visiting LA from Austin, TX At a Cannes Photo call in Salvatore Faragamo We rarely see Freida showing much skin, so this crop top and skirt combo is a bit out-of-the-norm for her, but in true Freida fashion, she manages to keep the look demure and chic.  Unexpected, yet perfectly suited to photos against the cool blue of the water in the South of France.  Absolument parfait.   - Lauren Stillman At the Cannes Film Festival in Atelier Versace This is a show-stopper. What I love about Freida’s look is she makes a statement but looks completely in her element. This neon dress is gorgeous, but the extremity in its detail calls for a simplicity that Freida has perfected. Her minimal accessories and nude pumps direct all the attention to the beautiful lace top & Swarovski crytallized skirt. But let’s not forget that flirtatious slit down her leg or arched detail on her hip (an interesting twist on the whole peplum trend). Poised and bold, you did it again, Freida! -Kathryn Hays, LSPR Intern At the NY Screening of Trishna in Rachel Roy Freida Pinto looked absolutely angelic in a beaded Rachel Roy dress at a screening of her film ‘Trishna’. Paired with her simply elegant jewelry and timeless makeup, Freida is the picture of class and grace. But, she would not be our style star if she did not take a few risks, and that is where the shoes come in. By adding an element of edge, Freida has kicked her outfit up a notch and taken it from cute to stunning. - Katie Schuster, LSPR Intern At the Nice Airport I love Freida’s chic airport outfit consisting of a military trench, dark skinny jeans and ankle boots. This laid back outfit makes her look put together without overdoing her look in such a casual setting. Her jacket is my favorite part with its simple structure yet cute detailing around the cuffs. About Last Night...

A Wednesday night at the Chateau?  We’re all about it.  In fact, we’re so all about it, we had not one, but two fun functions going on there!  First, we stopped by the Contrarian New York Trunk Show in Penthouse 54 to visit with Designer Alexis Laken where we got a sneak peak of her Holiday and Resort collections. We loved hearing shoppers “ooh and aah” over the famous backless bibb dress (this hot little number dress has graced many a red carpet) and we can’t wait to get a showroom sample shipment of the adorable polka dot and star prints coming for Resort.  

Next, we staffed up and braced ourselves for the Roman Luxe jewelry launch party co-hosted by Revolve Clothing and Karla Deras of Karla’s Closet.  Despite a few slip-ups (it ain’t a party until someone breaks a glass), the event went smoothly as we greeted guests including Mena Suvari, Monet Mazur, Jessica Stroup, Beth Behrs, Jamie Chung, Arielle Kebbel, Briana Evigan and our favorite girls about town Brenna Egan, Jennifer Chan, Sydne Summer of Sydne Style, Francesca Vannucci and stylists Rhonda Spies, Stephanie Strate, Lindsay Zir, Saba Salehi, Karen Raphael, Lindsey Dupuis and Cherie Kilchrist. Groups of people were drinking and dancing when they weren’t crowded around the jewelry bar picking out their favorite pieces from Karla Deras’ first collaboration with Roman Luxe, "Power to the Python."  We were so tired at the end, we forgot to ask if we could take home one of the beautiful floral displays that had been strewn about the suite dripping in Roman Luxe’s coveted jewels.  Our only regret of the evening.

LSPR Style Staff Tips: June

With temperatures rising, celebrities are breaking out their best summer outfits and celebrating color. Here are a few trends that have inspired our summer wardrobe plans.

Marvelous in Mint  -- Jenna Dewan-Tatum

Jenna Dewan’s dress for the MTV Movie Awards was perfect for summer with the mint top highlighting her tanned skin. Mint green has become a staple on the red carpet this season with celebs like Diane Kruger, Nicole Richie and Maria Menounos embracing the trend. It is a great color for sunny days and available in many stores. My closet is now overflowing with mint pieces ranging from clothing to accessories.

Pretty in Prints -- Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

It seems like prints are going to be everywhere this summer and based on what I've seen so far, I can't wait! From tropical to floral and even animal, it looks like prints of all kinds are having a moment. You can bring your prints on vacation or simply wear them out to spice up any outfit. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley did just this when she wore the cutest printed pants to the Lana Del Rey concert. I don't know about you, but those pants make me want to hit the beach and drink something with an umbrella in it.

Make It Work -- Nicky Hilton
If there’s one thing that has remained consistent in my wardrobe for the past few seasons, it is my favorite army green utility jackets.  I think I may have amassed a collection of roughly 3 or 4 of them by this point (although my first and favorite is from LOFT) and I’m so glad to see that the trend shows no signs of slowing.  I like to wear mine over just about everything — party dresses, jeans and heels, jeans and sneaks for the weekend.  I love the way Nicky Hilton has made the look beach appropriate here with a pair of printed shorts and a bright red bag.

Daring Denim -- Zoe Saldana and Kate Middleton 
This summer, I am in love with the colored denim trend. The bright colors add a little bit of liveliness to any casual outfit. You can rock this look with a comfortable shoe or you can spice it up with a heel just like Zoe Saldana and Kate Middleton do. These jeans are available in a variety of colors making it almost impossible to not find one that you like!

Beachy Tunic-- Blake Lively in Tory Burch
Beachwear is all about accessories, because when you think about you’re not left with much else to deal with. Sunglasses, beach bags, hats and cover-ups are ways girls get to show their style. Blake Lively was recently spotted wearing a signature Tory Burch cover-up and effortlessly captured the beach look.  Beach tunics are a great piece to have during the summer because it can also be worn over white pants with sandals for a summer night. Whether they are colorful, like Blake’s, or white they make a statement without requiring much else. Just add water.

Style Stars for May: Ashley Madekwe and Christa B. Allen

Is there anything more satisfying than a good nighttime soap?  This year, ABC introduced us to Revenge, the best evening soap since the glory days of 90210, Melrose Place and Models, Inc. (my personal fave!), and in the process has introduced the fashion world to two uniquely different but equally awesome rising red carpet superstars – Ashley Madekwe and Christa B. Allen.  Ashley shows her instinct for mixing polish with edge not only on the small screen as the talented-but-possibly-devious Grayson family flack but also on her own fashion blog ashley-ringmybell.blogspot.com while Christa’s red carpet style is just as wonderfully sweet yet a touch naughty as her character Charlotte Grayson.  Here, we celebrate them as our Style Stars for the month.        

Christa in Contrarian New York at Tyler Shields’ Art Opening

Christa rocked this bright red dress to a party for photographer Tyler Shields.  She dressed up this Contrarian sundress with classic black heels and metallic accessories, creating an effortlessly perfect look for summer.  I absolutely love her choice of a bold red tone and admire the way she used fashion-forward accessories to give her look a sophisticated edge.

What I love most about Ashley’s style is her casually confident approach to dressing.  She always looks like she’s wearing what she feels good in, which has become my own personal motto for dressing on a daily basis.  I love that she opted for a striped top (from LOFT), skinny jeans and heels for a recent premiere instead of the standard cocktail dress.  She looks fashionable, but not overdone – what more could we ask for?

Wow is all I can say.  I love the striking color and the daring plunging neckline.  But my favorite thing about the look?  She paired the deep red color with long blue and black crystal earrings.  Totally unexpected and totally awesome.

Ashley Madekwe went for a flirty and fun look at the InStyle party with her printed fringe dress. The pattern looks great on Ashley and provides a nice silhouette on her body. This is the perfect party look for both spring and summer.

Christa took a fashion risk in this black cropped top and tribal print midi skirt by Donna Karen at the Lucky Magazine party. This look made Christa stand out from the crowd and prove she is not afraid to take chances on the red carpet. I love the pairing of the crop top and printed midi skirt; two of this seasons biggest trends.

Ashley kept it classy and clean in Armani Exchange at the NewNowNext Awards held at the Avalon. There is something about the combination of her barely there strappy heels with her dress that I just cannot get enough of! That paired with her blue nail polish is pure genius.

Christa was stunning at the Disney International Upfronts in this Naeem Khan dress. The cut is so flattering on her, and having the back open like that just takes the dress to a whole other level. Her simple hair and makeup not only pair seamlessly with her outfit, but she looks beautiful! Not to be forgotten are her Aperlai shoes - those things are crazy in the best way!

Ashley went for an edgy, but classy look with her silver grid sheath dress. Madekwe added pops of color with yellow neon nail polish and a coral lip color.  The dress may have been simple in shape, but the overall effect was an eye-catching one.

Christa at the NYLON Magazine Annual May Young Hollywood Issue Party

Christa B. Allen showed off her summer flare with the perfect amount of color at the recent NYLON Magazine party. Allen sported the hot trend of a white button down, but added a fashion-forward twist with this eye drawing Kelsey Quan necklace. The pink in the necklace perfectly coordinates with her skirt, giving her a sweet, but fun look.

LSPR Style Staff Tips: May

The girls of LSPR are rolling out the red carpet and ushering in the start of summer.  Below are a few celebrity-inspired fashion trends you might spot us sporting over the next few months. 

Pop of Pink -- Kate Bosworth in Richard Nicoll

Kate Bosworth is a total showstopper in her neon pink sundress by Richard Nicoll. The pop of pink is fun and flirty for summer and perfect for any day-to-night event. This look totally stands out from more traditional hues and is a great alternative to the typical sundress look. Summer is a great time to try incorporating more neon and jewel tones into your wardrobe and dresses can be easily transitioned from brunch with the girls to after work cocktails. Take note from Kate and pair your look with nude sandals and minimal accessories.

Step It Up with a Cap-Toe Pump – Brooklyn Decker

I tend to get dressed everyday from the ground up, starting with the shoes I want to wear.  So whenever a new shoe trend comes along, I can’t wait to try it out.  First on my list this season is the cap-toe pump.  I love the way Brooklyn Decker works the look here with her crimson dress paired with a matching nude and red cap toe.  Obsessed.

Break Out the Body-con – Charlize Theron in Dion Lee

Charlize Theron showed off her fit physique in a cut out body-con dress this spring at CinemaCon. A black form-fitting dress flatters any shape, and Charlize wisely paired it with heels to create a slim and sleek silhouette.   Body-con dresses are a must have right now, and we have some amazing ones by Gomez-Gracia in our showroom.  While this look is not too revealing, it is definitely a great choice for a night out, and I can’t wait to rock one of my own!

Pep Squad – Blake Lively in Jason Wu for Target

Once only known to a few hard core fashion devotees, peplum is now taking Hollywood by storm. Blake Lively wore this Jason Wu for Target dress at the line’s launch at Skylight Soho in New York City.  She styled the look perfectly, keeping the jewelry minimal so that the peplum is the focus of her outfit. If you want to feel comfortable while making a chic fashion statement, peplum is the way to go! It flatters any silhouette and is a simple solution for any date night or event.

Chic Peep-toe booties – Gwen Stefani

I am obsessed with Gwen Stefani’s peep-toe booties. The camel colored shoe accessorized with a simple tassel is a fantastic way to make a statement without being over the top. Pairing the shoes with a casual sweater and skinny jeans put all of the focus on the booties. This is a simple way to incorporate heels into a daytime look.

Style Star for April: Taylor Swift

She’s topped the pop and country charts, starred on the big screen opposite Taylor Lautner (swoon!) and consistently sets our fashionista hearts aflutter, whether styled to the nines on the red carpet or photographed as she shops with friends.  Let’s face it --Taylor Swift rocks.  Here’s why:     

At the ACM Awards in J. Mendel

No stranger to red carpets, Taylor Swift looked positively glowing in a crisp white J. Mendel gown for the ACM awards. The sophisticated look was striking enough to need only minimal accessorizing, which the singer chose to pair with stacked pave bracelets. With a sleek blowout and cutouts to match, her gown is picture perfect and a great offset to the red carpet. As the season of award shows dwindles down, it is fun to anticipate what Taylor and other starlets choose to wear. A white gown or even casual day/night maxi is perfect for recreating her look at home.

In Vintage at the Flea Market 

Taylor Swift went vintage with her wardrobe while shopping for bargains at the Ventura County Flea Market.  Her cream crochet dress is perfect for spring adding a subtle bohemian touch. Although the accessories are what make this look with her skinny brown belt, long gold necklace and gorgeous brown saddlebag.  I am in love with this bag and am now searching for one of my own. Taylor pulls off this spring chic outfit with ease.

In Honor at the Lorax Premiere

Taylor Swift has yet again taken a classic look and given it a twist. Whether in a sparkly dress on stage or something vintage, Swift is never one to bore. Taylor's Honor dress not only exemplifies the class and timelessness that she embodies, but its illusion creating cuts make this dress just as edgy as it is elegant. Paired with simple jewelry and the perfect hair and makeup Swift is definitely on point as our Style Star!

In a striped dress with Lauren Merkin bag in Beverly Hills

In this perfectly effortless yet put together summer outfit, Taylor pairs a blue and white striped dress with red accents, which tie the look together.  Taylor’s Lauren Merkin cross-body bag stands out as the staple piece of this nautical look.  I am a big fan of sundresses and admire Taylor’s addition of bold red accessories – a brave choice that I’m sure will become a summer trend!

Taylor literally took my breath away at the GRAMMYS in this gown.  From the intricate beadwork to the unique cut-out back to the simple hair and make-up, Taylor was absolutely flawless in this look.
