Style Star for January: Hailee Steinfeld

We can only imagine what a whirlwind few months it has been for this fourteen-year-old dynamo.  From the much anticipated premieres of True Grit to an appearance on the star-studded Golden Globes red carpet, Hailee Steinfeld has stepped out in sartorial splendor, opting for picture perfect looks that make a statement, yet remain age appropriate.  This uncanny ability to dress for success in all occasions is why we've named Hailee Steinfeld our Style Star for January.  LSPR's staff waxes poetic about their favorite of Hailee's red carpet looks.

Hailee Steinfeld showcases her youthfulness in a floor length dress by Prabal Gurung. Her hair is simple and chic, letting her true beauty shine, while the silver bangles add a touch of sparkle to her elegant evening look.   -- Michelle Balady, LSPR Intern

Hailee looked effortlessly chic in a nude, one-shoulder Marchesa mini dress at The Critics Choice Awards.  She paired the intricately detailed dress with tan snakeskin and lace Jimmy Choos and a clutch.  I love this look because it is simple, yet elegant.  She looks young, fun and flirty and can pull off a nude dress really well.  -- Courtney Marino, LSPR Intern

I love the way Hailee accentuates her monochromatic dress and bag combo with a pop of turquoise at her feet.  She accomplished so many things with this look – pulled together, fashion-forward and fun!

There’s nothing classier than a little black dress. When we do spot Hailee in black, she is sure to have embellishments, be it sheer, lace, or sparkles. But at the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party late last year, Hailee caught everyone’s eye in a flirty, fun short black dress. Paired with short black boots, the outfit gives Hailee a young, yet sophisticated trendy look.  -- Lacey Ehrlich, LSPR Intern

Hailee’s chic black lace ensemble was especially hip paired with matching black boots and a clutch. The dress was perfectly accentuated with her effortless makeup and hair.

While Hailee’s fashion seems to blend in with that of more mature celebs at other red carpet events (floor-length gowns, LBDs and sleeveless minis), she takes full advantage of her youth with this flirty metallic Moschino dress. Paired with Louboutin pumps and Tiffany’s bracelet, the dress gives Hailee a modern princess vibe – something she pulls off perfectly.  -- Daeun Jeong, LSPR Intern

At the BAFTA/LA Tea Party in Marc Jacobs (above left)
This 14 year old knows how to rock any outfit, but continues to let her youth shine.  I love her mary jane heels. The simple braid accentuates her youth and carries the outfit flawlessy.

A warm coat is always a good choice in winter. The coral color brings out her skin tone and I love her natural wavy hair.  The black skinny jeans helped keep her outfit neat and well-tailored.

LSPR Staff Style Tips: January

Happy New Year!  We at LSPR want to help you make 2011 your most fashionable year yet, so we will be sharing our favorite style tips every month.  We hope you enjoy and possibly even try a few out yourself.

As fashion publicists, we're constantly tracking what celebrities are wearing and often find inspiration in their red carpet looks.  Following are a few trends borrowed from the style stars we love that you might see us sporting this month.

A gray bag is a chic alternative to black – Whitney Port in Lauren Merkin
This year, I'm trying to change up my all black wardrobe by incorporating my new favorite color...gray!  Color purists may scoff at my use of the word "color" as opposed to "shade," but whatever you want to call it, the hue is effortlessly wearable and makes a great alternative to classic noir.  Try changing up your basic black bag for a gray one as Whitney Port has done here on New Year's Eve with her Lauren Merkin "Iris" clutch

Nude and lace is the new mix for spring evening -- Amanda Seyfried in Valentino
Amanda Seyfried accessorized her Valentino dress with a bodacious pair of heels.  Whether it's for a night on the town or an important event, you can class it up with this fierce combination.

Don't be afraid to whip out those winter whites -- Kirsten Dunst
Make a statement by breaking the "no white after labor day" rule by sporting a sexy white dress.  Too often people revert to gray and black hues (sorry LS!) during the colder months, but you can show them your adventurous side by wearing an unexpected and sophisticated ensemble.  Additionally, by wearing white, you instantly look tanner, which always is a major confidence booster and the easiest way to trick people into thinking you spent the holiday in St. Barths.

Jazz up a basic black look with statement jewels -- Mena Suvari in Flutter by Jill Golden
As you now know, my favorite wardrobe staples are most likely black.  In order to take the basic black look from blah to wow, I'll be piling on statement-making jewelry like Mena Suvari did at the premiere of NBC's The Cape.  You can barely see them in this photo, but in addition to the awesome Flutter necklace, Mena is wearing Flutter's crave-inducing "Albert" spiked stud earrings.  At under $200, they're a total must-have!  InStyle.com thinks so as well - check out their feature here.
